IGCSE Business Study

The Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies syllabus aims to develop learners’ understanding of business activity in the public and private sectors, and the importance of innovation and change. Learners find out how the major types of business organisation are established, financed and run, and how their activities are regulated. Factors affecting business decision-making are also considered, as are the essential values of cooperation and interdependence.

Learners not only study business concepts and techniques but also enhance related skills such as numeracy and enquiry. The syllabus provides both a foundation for further study and a preparation for the world of work.

Here below is the secret to success in business.

B: Be Business-minded.  To develop a good business sense, you need to read business news every day to understand what is happening in the world and how the concepts are related to our everyday life.

U: Understanding key business concepts. To gain a good understanding of the concepts, you need to identify the key concepts and know how one concept relates to another.

S: Be Sensible to making business decisions. In the syllabus and exams, you are given a case to analyse the key business issues, justify your answers and make recommendations.

I:  Be Inquisitive.  You need to be curious and getting to know what lies behind the phenomena and how you can approach and address a business issue. Curious people are never bored, and for them learning becomes an unending journey of joy.

N: Never give up. It is easier to give up than sustain your effort and enthusiasm. It can be quite frustrating to understand all challenging concepts. But surely your effort will pay off in the end.

E: Be Enthusiastic. You need to be passionate about what you do. Always take an active role in your learning.

S: Study skills. Study skills are the approaches to learning that improve your ability to study, and to retain and recall information. Some students are good at time management, but some may struggle with taking notes. To be able to do well in your studies, you need to devote time to developing your study skills.

S: Exam Skills. It is critical that you understand your strengths and weaknesses and take appropriate steps to strengthen your exam skills as much as possible.
