More from class 5

The innovative classroom

We are thrilled to share the latest news from our innovative Class 5s! Our students have embarked on an exciting cross-curricular project that bridges the worlds of French and Science in a creative and educational way.

In French class, students have been channelling their inner architects and urban planners by designing and building model cities. This engaging activity not only sparked their creativity but also provided a practical context for them to practise giving directions in French. As they crafted their cityscapes, students labelled streets, landmarks, and buildings, and then used this setting to navigate and give detailed directions entirely in French. This hands-on approach has significantly enhanced their language skills, making learning both effective and enjoyable.

Meanwhile, in Science, our young engineers are delving into the fascinating world of electricity and circuits. They are learning about different types of circuits, including series and parallel circuits, and exploring how electricity flows and powers devices. This knowledge is crucial as they apply it to their city projects, installing working electrical circuits to light up their buildings and power other features within their miniature metropolises.

This cross-curricular project highlights the power of integrated learning. The project fosters collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills as students work together to bring their cities to life, both linguistically and electrically.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and dedication our students have shown in this project.
