Schools World Cup Marbella 2021

On Thursday, 28 October it was finally time to leave for the Schools Football World Cup in Marbella. Everybody got to the airport nice and early, ready to depart for Marbella.

Faces were a delightful picture of excitement and nerves. The flight and drive to our hotel went well and once we were checked in we went for a quick swim in the sea.

On Friday, 29 October, the day started with an early breakfast. At 9.30am we left for the stadium anticipating some exciting games.

The ISBe Lions mixed team had to play 3 games on the first day and our boys team 4 games. Both teams performed well and Day 1 of competing was a success!  In the later afternoon all the players and staff were involved in a community project for the conservation of the Artola Dunes in Marbella.

On Saturday, 30 October, our Lions were expected for an early breakfast again. The ISBe Lions mixed team had to play 3 games again and our boys team 4 games. Some players had heavy legs and other niggles, but everybody was able to play and what a day it became. Our boys team managed to qualify themselves for the ‘small final for 3rd place’ on Sunday! Our mixed team also performed well and showed that they had even improved from the previous day. In the later afternoon our players went for a swim in the sea and in the swimming pool at the hotel.

Sunday, 31 October, was THE big day! Our ISBe Lions boys team had to play the ‘small final’. With a dominating, excellent performance they won the ‘small final’ with 4-1. All players, staff and parents were thrilled and we’ll never forget this day of writing history for ISBe!
