The Secondary Section Stories 08/11/2024
To our valued parents and ISBe community members,
I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable midterm break, spending quality time with your children. Now, as the weather turns colder, please remember to keep your child at home if they show any signs of illness or are feeling unwell. This helps us all stay healthy and keeps our classrooms as safe as possible.
Before the break, I had the pleasure of joining our girls’ football team at the Schools World Cup in Marbella, along with Mr. Gabor. It was a thrill to witness the resilience, determination, and team spirit these young athletes displayed. Their hard work paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of them for bringing home the gold medal in the Under-15 category! Our boys’ football team has also been celebrating a recent victory, winning their match against Middenschool Den Brandt. The boys demonstrated remarkable teamwork and determination, and their success has been a great boost for the team and the whole school community.
We also have some exciting news to share within our school community: congratulations to Ms. Pauline Kimman on the arrival of her new baby! While she is on maternity leave, Mr. Fabio Cruz has joined us as her cover teacher. Mr. Cruz brings extensive experience from an international IB school in Brazil, and we’re delighted to welcome him to our team.

The students enjoyed a Halloween-themed dress-up day before the break, with a fun and spooky mummy-wrapping competition that brought plenty of laughter and school spirit. Our classrooms and hallways were filled with creativity and festive energy as everyone got into the Halloween spirit.
In addition, Classes 11 and 12 recently took educational trips to several art museums as part of their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Art curricula. These visits allowed them to experience art in a broader context, encouraging reflection and analysis, integral to both subjects.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for our first career talk of the year, which will take place online on the 19th of November. This session is open to students in Class 9 and above and offers them a valuable opportunity to hear from professionals and explore potential career paths. We encourage our students to participate and ask questions to gain insights that could shape their future.
November is shaping up to be an eventful month! Block Exams for Classes 6-9 will take place from the 27th to the 29th of November, while Class 11 students will have exams scheduled throughout the entire week. Please remind your children to prepare thoroughly and pace themselves.
Finally, our annual Festival of Lights will take place on the 30th of November, a cherished tradition where our community comes together to celebrate joy, unity, and light. We can’t wait to see all of you there with your families!
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a successful and healthy second half of the term.
Warm regards,
Tala Issa
