Secondary Newsletter 18/10/2024

The Secondary Section Stories 18/10/2024

With the midterm break just around the corner, we are still enjoying the crisp, autumnal weather here in Belgium. The changing leaves and cooler days have brought a fresh energy to our school community, and the last two weeks have been as busy as ever with a range of activities and events.

We kicked things off with a special Teacher’s Day celebration, organized with great care by our Student Council. They created thoughtful boards for each teacher and staff member, where students could share kind words and notes of appreciation. The messages brought smiles to many faces, and the teachers were truly touched by the recognition. To make the day even more memorable, the school arranged for food, which was graciously served by the Student Council members—a gesture that added a warm, personal touch to the occasion. In the spirit of fun, we also hosted a ‘Fun Friday’ where students and teachers switched up their styles with a playful dress swap. The teachers greatly appreciated the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm shown by the students.

Safety remains a priority for us, and during this period, we conducted a lockdown drill to ensure that all students and staff are well-versed in the procedures. Our students took this seriously, demonstrating their understanding of how important it is to maintain a safe and secure environment for learning.

We also had a spirited ‘House Pride Day’, where students showed off their school spirit by twinning with their friends and proudly wearing their house colors. It was great to see the excitement and unity among the students. Meanwhile, some of our students took on the challenge of the General Knowledge and Science Olympiads, pushing themselves to achieve excellence beyond the regular classroom setting.

While we celebrate these moments, it is also essential to address a serious topic ‘cyberbullying’. As technology continues to play a significant role in our students’ lives, we must work together to ensure that they use it responsibly and respectfully. By fostering open dialogue between parents, teachers, and students, we can help create a safe digital environment where kindness and understanding prevail. Let’s strive to make the online world a positive space for everyone, where our students can learn, connect, and thrive.I have attached some articles for you to read.

Looking ahead, I am excited to share that Ms. Tamara  and I will be attending the IB conference this weekend. It’s a great opportunity for us to engage with fellow educators, exchange ideas, and bring back fresh perspectives that will benefit our school community. Additionally, our Girls’ Football Club will soon be traveling to Marbella for an exciting tournament. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their skills and represent our school with pride. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to celebrating their achievements!

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school community. Here’s to a restful midterm break and a wonderful end to this vibrant autumn season!

Warm regards,

Tala Issa
