The Primary Section Stories – 29/04

Welcome back to our Summer term. We hope you had a good break. This term is already looking very busy with lots of planned events and activities.

Today we have been visiting the class 1 fund raiser for the Orangutans. Class 1 started this last week in their assembly when they did a great job of presenting the threat that Orangutans are under and persuading us all that we wanted to do something about it. Today we have had lots of activities, cupcakes and necklaces to buy. The class has worked very hard. Thank you to all the parents and Ms Saachi for their contributions too. It has been a great day. We will let you know how much they raised in our next newsletter.

Today was also class 4’s assembly and they explained to us all about Ramadan and the purpose of the fast. The students performed really well, with expression and feeling. We wish all the best to everyone in our community who will be celebrating the end of the Ramadan in the next few days.

Our Parent workshop on the 11th May will be specifically for class 4 and 5 parents. Please look out for your invitation next week.

Please remember that holidays in term time or days out are not permitted. The children get very upset when they miss out on events, haven’t carried out the same work as the others or let their classmates down by missing a performance. If your child really does need leave you must write to me to request permission to take the day off school.

If the weather continues to improve children will need to have sunscreen put on before they come to school. If a child needs a top up during the day you can send in a tube/bottle with the child’s name on it.

We had a visit from St Norbutus school last week. A few students and their teachers came to find out how an international school is run. They seemed very interested in all that we do here and were very impressed with our students and curriculum.

Staff are already trying to arrange the class trips for this term. They will contact you as soon as the dates and transport are confirmed.

Enjoy the good weather. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see all the students on Tuesday next week.
