The Secondary Section Stories – 08/06

We are on our final journey towards the end of the school year and students are engaged in a range of exciting activities – academics, sporting and cultural.

After our fantastic International Day where the community came together to celebrate different countries and cultures, students are now focused on demonstrating the knowledge and skills they have developed over the year. Class 10, only have one external exam to do and they have finished their program. The middle schoolers have received their block exam schedule, while class 9 and 11 students are determined to have a strong finish to the first year of the IGCSE and IBDP respectively.

Students in class 8 and 11, as well as history students in class 9, all visited Breendonk and Kazerne Dossin this week. Their focus varies from a historical to literary perspective as they examine the past and its’ influence on today.

The whole school has been involved in a 4v4 Football competition this week, either as a player, spectator or part of cheer squad. Organized by the students in Dragon House, it has created a competitive but friendly buzz during break and lunch times. The following winning teams earned points for their house: Primary Girls – the final games are still to be played / Primary Boys – Phoenix, Secondary Boys – Dragons / Secondary Girls – Unicorns. Well done to all teams and good luck for the last games next Tuesday!!

Also on the sporting front, ISBe organised and hosted a Football Tournament with five other international schools competing. Our teams performed well and the ongoing development of their physical skills and level of teamwork is to be commended. Well done to our coaches Mr Ruben, Mr Gabor and Mr Kiernan, and to Mr Ruben who also arranged the tournament – Great work!

It was great to see our student council arrange another event – Decade Day – where students could dress in fashion from past decades – some seriously interesting outfits!!!

Thursday 9 – C8 Dutch excursion to Middleheim Sculpture Park

Friday 10 – School Drama Production – 6.30pm

Monday 13 – C5 Parent meeting 2 – transition logistics (Note: change of date)
