The Secondary Section Stories – 10/02

Let’s take a journey around secondary school this week to see what students have been up to……

C6 ART

Students are exploring how feeling and emotions are expressed and represented in artworks using the medium of painting. Here are some pictures in various stages of development:

C7 Dutch

These past few weeks, the students from class 7 have been working hard in Dutch: conjugating verbs in the present and the past tense. In Dutch you have a lot of little rules which you often have to learn by heart. That is why it is always important to keep revising these concepts but in fun and different ways! Jenga is a great tool for this and also ‘het propjesspel. Students love the competition – it is an excellent motivator. The more they practise, the better they get!

C8 Social Studies

As students track aspects of history and society, class 8 students are researching and presenting their findings regarding civil and human right activists: What influenced their journey? How did they protest? and What impact did they have? (now and then).

C9 ISAs

Along with classes 3-8, students in C9 took part in the official ISA or International Schools Assessment tests this week. This assessment should provide us with some valuable data for individual students to show progress over time in relation to last year.

C10 IGCSE MOCK EXAMS

A busy end to the week for IGCSE candidates as they start their mock examinations. They are working towards finding the perfect balance in preparation – studying for understanding, last minute review and taking some time to chill out. Exams continue next week as well.

C11 Mathematics

IB Higher level math students are focused on gathering, utilizing and analyzing data for a current project. As they investigate data, they are using other secondary students to collect measurement data and other information which they review and look at patterns, anomalies and challenges.

Some upcoming dates to remember:

February:

Wednesday 9 – Friday 18 – C10 Mock IGCSE exams

Monday 21 – Friday 25 – Math & Science week / Interhouse speech competition

Wednesday 23 – Primary coffee meeting

Friday 25 – Mid-term break starts
