Welcome back after our half-term break – I hope you had a relaxing time and I know students are excited to be back.
During the last week before half-term break, senior school students had access to an online fair. These are becoming much more common now and provide another alternative for student to gather information about universities and career pathways. We also celebrated a few festivals across the school. It was great to students dressed traditionally for Diwali and in costumes for Halloween. Well done to the student council for arranging a haunted house adventure and to the student voice in primary for the haunted escape room and other activities.
Our girls’ football team went to the Schools World Cup Football tournament in Marbella, Spain again for 5 days at the end of term. Not only did they do themselves proud by placing 3rd and bringing home a shiny cup and medals but they were excellent ambassadors, both as confident young women and representatives of our school. More details about their achievements can be found later in the newsletter.
The first week back, although only a short one, has been full of extra experiences. Our class 10 students who are in their final year of IGCSE introduced the program to class 8 students who will be making their own subject choices soon. They say student make great teachers and after some initial general information, class 10 students shared their experiences, tips and advice in a “speed dating format” with class 8.
Class 9 visited a local home as part of their PSHE community outreach and entertained the elderly residents through teaching some dances and playing a variety of games. Not only a great opportunity to connect with our local community but also great to see students practising their Dutch and interacting with compassion and respect.
Here are some important dates and events coming up so mark them in your calendars:
