The Secondary Section Stories – 18/03

Our first fortnight back after half term and the weather is a little brighter has created a real buzz around the school.

We started back with 3 new students joining the secondary school, one in each class: 10, 9 and 7. They are settling into the ISBe community well and meeting new friends and teachers. We are also seeing a lot of inquiries for the next academic school year across most grade levels.

There is plenty of action across the school: Class 6 enjoying the Lie Detectors program in English, Class 7 expanding their investigations in Science, Class 8 and 10 finalising their subjects and courses for next year, Class 9 dancing at a secondary assembly, Class10 doing final preparations of IGCSE exams and Class 11 have chosen their research programs for their extended essays.

As a whole school, our six finalists competed in the finals of the Inter-house Speech Competition. Congratulations to our winner – Navya Agrawal in C9 and Dragons, and the runner up – Annisha Khimani. The student council arranged crazy hat & hair day last week which saw some amazing creations from both students and staff. Well done to all those who participated and congrats to best hair styles or hats in secondary – Nathan & Akshaya in C6. Our Football teams having been busy playing interschool matches this week. Both boys and girls played BSB, with our boys having a convincing victory and the girls showing how well their skills are developing and enjoying the competition experience. The boys also played BIS as well today who were a fast, quality team and gave our boys a necessary challenge before they go to the tournament next week.

High school students and parents had their second “Career Panel” for the year, this time focused on creative pursuits. Students are getting access to some really interesting career pathway experiences from our speakers which will hopefully highlight the breadth of opportunities available for them.

I am looking forward to catching up with parents at our reconnect days this and next Saturday.
