The Secondary Section Stories – 28/01

Things are busy in secondary and after a short online stint, students are making the most of being back onsite and collaborating with their peers.

Middle school students are engaged in integrated units across subject areas to deepen their understanding and make learning more meaningful. This is particularly true for class 6 who are focused on “Creativity”. Class 8 have met with myself and Ms Kimman to share their personal statements which they have written about themselves giving us an insight to their personality, passions and aspirations. This is part of their pathway to subject selection and planning for their future. In our IGCSE program, class 10 students preparing for mock and final exams, while class 9 are establishing a solid foundation of understanding upon which they can continue to build. IB Diploma students have been fully immersed in some deep and intellectual discussions about ‘Theory of Knowledge’ concepts. Well done Ms Tamara!!

We are currently collaborating with Thomas More University and hopefully we will have some more interns working with our teachers and various classes over the coming months. We hope to host two in secondary in the areas of Mathematics and English. Students have now completed the practice round of this years’ ISA tests which will take place on 7-9 February. These will provide valuable data about student learning and progress. Mr Bob has updated the student art hanging around the school. There is some amazing work from students and a walk through the corridors is like a gallery tour. Try outs for the school basketball teams will be held next Tuesday 1 February after school at the Sports Center.
