Another great year comes to a close and we have finished off with lots of celebrations, exciting trips and amazing memories.
We got to recognise the talent and contributions of our students at our annual secondary awards ceremony. It was an opportunity to acknowledge our academic performers who were top of subject for their grade or top of class. We also selected students for awards based on improvement, citizenship, sports achievements, leadership and other contributions to our community. Congratulations to all our winners and I also want to say a big thanks to the wonderful secondary staff who have worked with your children this year.
Last Friday we also witnessed talented performances by secondary students in music and drama at the End of Year production. It was a series of entertaining musical numbers and skits, and we definitely have some talent amongst us. Well done to our new production manager, Mr Matt, to Mr Jonathon for his quirky script writing, the C11 stage crew and all the other teachers who assisted.
Lastly all secondary students have been away in Zeeland on residential trips. The middle school students have focused on outdoor education through watersports and building group dynamics. The senior students, stayed in a different location, roughing it a bit more to build their survival skills, independence and teamwork.
This is also my last ISBe newsletter, as you already know I am returning to Australia after about 20 plus years working abroad and 4 years in Antwerp. My time at ISBe and living in Belgium has been rewarding professionally and a lot of fun personally, and I have some great memories to take with me. The highlight as always for me has been the people. I have worked with some amazing teachers, made some life long friends, met some great parents and families, and had the pleasure of working with your wonderful children. I feel both lucky and proud to have been part of the ISBe family, and I hope my life journey bring me back to visit and reconnect with old friends.
I wish all the students who are moving on, the best of luck with their next adventure, and while we are not losing any secondary staff, I wanted to wish Ms Grace good luck for her new job. I hope everybody has a fun and relaxing holiday, connecting with friends and family, and I wish the new Secondary Head, Ms Tala and her family, a smooth transition to this fantastic school.
See ya later mate!
