Career Aspirations of The ISBe Students

Fagun Shah, Class 10

For the past three years, I have been very interested in studying the law and becoming a lawyer. During the first few years, it was just a thought that was stuck in my head, however, after some time I started realising how deeply interested I actually was and that was when I started properly researching on what law was exactly and how it would be taught. I’ve always loved debating and looking at case studies with different sides, furthermore, I am very interested in the humanities which is why law would be a great option for me as it requires quite similar skills. Some of the universities that I am interested in are: The University of Bristol, Queen Mary University London and King’s College London. My first pick would be Queen Mary just because it is a school with quite a large campus and has excellent facilities when it comes to law. In addition, I took a look at its website and saw the courses that it had, which stood out to me more than the others.

Trisha Rupani, Class 10

I have wanted to become a doctor for as long as I can remember; I can no longer see myself doing anything else other than becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. I want to go into the medical field because whether it is diagnosing a patient or answering questions in a lecture, I will always be challenged. Medicine requires using all your skills at everything is either life or death and that is what I love most about the field. I know medicine is a challenging career path to go into but that is one of the reasons that draws me towards it. I’m not really sure which university I would like to go to, but some I find interesting are Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, and Columbia University.

Ishan Patel, Class 10

I’ve always wanted to grow up and be part of the digital world. As I grew up, I played a lot of games, it was part of my childhood, and it made me question “how do people create something so complex yet so basic?” After looking into the topic of programming I realized the main reason as to why I want to become a programmer is the complexity of programming and code which can enable me to use my creativity to create different projects (algorithms, games, websites, and more). It has been my dream for years to be able to create games that are as complex as the ones I play and enjoy. After researching I realized my love for code was more than I realized. I also watched a lot of ted talks from professional programmers to gain an insight into what it is like to work as a programmer and if it is actually worth pursuing. I then started learning a programming language, C++, through a very basic course and also worked on my typing speed as professional programmers are required to have a minimum of 75-80 wpm. I don’t have a particular university that I am looking to get into.
