Junior Duke Programme
Class 3 have embraced an exciting opportunity to participate in the Junior Duke Programme, an initiative designed to foster independence, confidence, resilience, and self-motivation among students. Inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh Award but entirely independent of it, the Junior Duke Programme is tailored for children aged 5 to 13, offering different levels: Micro Duke, Mini Duke, Junior Duke, and Senior Duke.
The programme challenges students to develop a wide range of life skills, with Class 3 currently working towards the Silver Award. This involves activities across diverse areas such as First Aid, ICT, Eco-awareness, Drama, Selflessness, Sports, and practical skills like cookery.
As a class, we completed the eco-awareness activity by participating in World Clean-Up Day. The children took part in a litter pick at our local park, demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to the environment. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and worked hard to make a positive impact.
After each challenge, students write detailed reflections on what they have learned. These reflections, along with the completion of tasks, are assessed by a dedicated team of teachers and staff. Students meet with their assigned assessors for interviews, during which their achievements are reviewed and officially signed off.
At the end of the school year, those who have completed their challenges will be celebrated in a special assembly, receiving certificates and badges as recognition of their efforts. The enthusiasm from the children has been incredible and we are excited to see their progress and the wonderful work they produce as they continue their Junior Duke journey.
