Class 4 Update

Class 4 Update:

It’s been a fantastic term in Class 4, and we wanted to share some of the exciting things the children have been up to! This term, the class has been learning all about Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, exploring their history, art, and inventions in a variety of fun and creative ways.

One of the highlights was when the children worked in teams to build famous Greek and Roman buildings. They focused on key elements like symmetry, pillars, and proportions, using materials such as clay, cardboard, and paper. After finishing their designs, they proudly presented them to the class, and you can now see their hard work displayed in the class library.

Class 4 also got creative with Ancient Greek and Roman art. The children painted their own vases, using traditional designs from these ancient cultures. It was a great way for them to explore the artistic side of their studies and really bring the history to life.

In science, the class had a blast with an outdoor experiment where they tested different catapults to see which one could travel the furthest. This experiment tied perfectly into their studies of Ancient Greece and Rome, where the catapult was invented. The kids enjoyed the challenge and worked together to design and test their catapults.

In English, the class has been learning about fairy tales, fables, myths, and legends. For their assembly, the children retold a traditional story from each genre and gave it a twist by retelling it from a different perspective. They had so much fun acting out their roles in a court case-style scene, with the audience stepping in as the jury. It was a wonderful mix of creativity, teamwork, and public speaking.

Looking ahead, Class 4 is eagerly anticipating their upcoming trip to the History and Art Museum in Brussels. This will be a chance to dig even deeper into the world of Ancient Greece and Rome, and also revisit their studies of Ancient Egypt. It promises to be a really engaging and enriching experience for the children.

It’s been such a rewarding term, and the teachers couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and enthusiasm Class 4 has shown. We’re excited for all that’s to come in the next few weeks!
