Halloween

What is Halloween?

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on 31 October, it is the evening just before the two Christian holy days called All Hallows’ Day. Before people used to scare off ghosts by lighting up bonfires because they were scared of them. Although people were frightened of evil spirits, people still celebrate Halloween to have fun. In Belgium, some adults celebrate Halloween by lighting up candles at night. They do that in the honor of the memory of their dead relatives but the kids go trick or treating wearing scary costumes to receive candy. The traditional colors of Halloween are black and orange: Orange represents the fall of harvest and black represents death.

Dia de los muertos in Mexico

In Mexico they celebrate Halloween  like,by making their favourite food of the relative who died  when someone is dead they put a photo of them  and they make their fav food.once the food is made the spirit comes and takes some of it,once they ate it people throw the food but if those people don’t like wasting food they just eat it.THey keep a towel to let the spirit wash them before they go enjoy their feist.many people gather up and talk about the past. They also have a band which is called the mariachi band. People sing songs because  they sing for their happiness and the spirit happiness.Usually people cry if someone is dead but in this people sing the song and play instruments.

Halloween in Ireland

In Ireland, they celebrate halloween by doing really fun things like lighting up bonfires, go trick-or-treating and most of the children play pranks or tricks on their neighbors like they ring the bell of their house and then run away or hide. They also play a card game where underneath the cards there is something like chocolate or sweets. Once they pick the card they have the candy that is underneath it. They also give out cakes and in the cakes there might be a ring or a straw, if you get a ring, you will get married, and if you get a straw, you will become rich. They also have food such as barnbacks which is the fruit cake. Which i think sounds really yummy.

Last year’s Halloween at ISBe

Last year we had a fun Halloween and it was really interesting. Everyone was wearing their spooky and unique Halloween costumes,  which they got to show off during the assembly. Class by class, we circulated in the theater  and we were allowed to show  our cool costumes. In the library we took  pictures and posted them on social media.the teachers took  the picture and they also sent  the picture to us.our pictures are also on the wall in the library.

This year’s Halloween at ISBE

This year we have a new Halloween event, which the student council is  organizing. We have to dress up in our costume again, but this time there is a winner for the best Halloween costume. There is also a photo booth in the reception and anyone can take pictures and post it on their social media. The school will also take pictures of students and post them in the school social media account.
