House Pride Day on April 18th was a unique event for students at our school. Unlike other House Pride days, an event in which students are encouraged to show up wearing the colour of their house and compete in warcry challenges to gain house points, we had a different activity planned – the Mannequin Challenge. This challenge involved all the Houses at school – Phoenix, Dragons, and Unicorns – and was held in different areas of the school where students froze like mannequins. We recorded the challenge during morning break and displayed the final videos in the theatre during lunch break, where a winning House was chosen. Well done to Phoenix who won one hundred house points for their amazing video.
It was fantastic to see students come together and show their House pride in such a different way.
At our school, the different Houses also come up with, and host, interesting competitions for the school as an opportunity for students to have fun and win House points while displaying House spirit. On April 26th, the Unicorns House hosted a music event called “Guess the Song & Artist Competition”. A fragment of a song was played, and the students used their knowledge of music to run up to ring a bell and guess the song and artist. There were a total of nine groups competing, three groups from each house, with each group having a runner who ran up to ring the bell and guess the song and artist. It was a really fun and engaging event for all. We would like to give a special thanks to Isabelle Noye for all her help during the event, and a shout-out to Joshua Smilkstein from one of the Phoenix groups, who impressed all of us with his extensive knowledge of songs. Phoenix once again emerged victorious, winning two hundred House points, while Dragons and Unicorns won one hundred and then fifty House points respectively.
