ISBe MUN 2023

We are thrilled to bring you the highlights from ISBe’s 6th Model United Nations (MUN) conference. This year’s event was filled with engaging debates, inspiring delegates, and exciting new additions.

The MUN conference has experienced incredible growth since its inception six years ago. What began as a humble half-day event with two committees has evolved into a prestigious two-day conference featuring five committees. The journey has been marked by the development of skilled MUNers who have fearlessly tackled global issues.

A notable addition to this year’s conference was the introduction of ISBe’s own Environment Committee. But that was not all! This year also marked the introduction of a long-awaited addition, the General Assembly. Serving as the pinnacle of the conference, the General Assembly brought resolutions to life through collaborative decision-making. Delegates had the opportunity to showcase their diplomatic prowess and collectively vote on the final resolutions.

We also extended a warm welcome to our guests from external schools, including Amity International School from Amsterdam, International School of Toulouse from France, and returning delegates from BEPS. The diverse presence enhanced the exchange of ideas and fostered a vibrant atmosphere of cultural understanding. Our external delegates even met in town with some of our ISBe students on both Monday and Tuesday night!

But of course, the conference would not have been possible without the dedicated chairs and assistant chairs who diligently prepared for the event. Their expertise and guidance ensured an enriching and engaging experience for all participants. Special appreciation goes to the hardworking admin leaders, Isabelle Noye and Amritpal Singh Saini, and Meghna Vijay, whose behind-the-scenes efforts ensured a seamless conference.

An announcement during the opening ceremony created an extra buzz among ISBe students. This is because next year, ISBe will introduce an EYP (European Youth Parliament) team, offering the opportunity to participate in the national conference in March 2024. The anticipation is high, and potential members were scouted throughout the event.

The Best Delegate Award recognized delegates who made exceptional contributions and demonstrated a keen interest in the overall process. The winners, chosen by the chairs and assistant chairs, were celebrated during the closing ceremony.

All together, ISBe MUN was a great success!
