MUN stands for Model United Nations. At ISBe, we organise an MUN conference every year and all students from class 6 to class 12 participate in it. Each delegate represents a country and gets assigned to one of the committees. We’ve been running the conference since 2018, which means that this will be our fourth MUN conference!
We have made some cool changes this year. First of all, we’re having a two-day conference instead of one. This means that the delegates will do most of the research and preparation at the conference, which will allow for more interesting discussions and debates.
We also usually have two committees, this year there are four different committees, each with their own Chair and assistant chair! The admin team have also arranged special handmade goods and tons of food.
What’s extra special about MUN at ISBe is that the teachers are not in charge, and it’s all handled by students! Yes, that’s right: each year a team of admin members and Chairs join together and have weekly meetings for an entire term to organise the conference. Overall MUN is an amazing experience and everyone enjoys it.
Because of Covid, we were not able to have the conference on site last year. While we still had a great time doing it online, we are all so relieved to be back on site this year.
