Our World – Class 1-

The children in class 1 have been learning all about our world. They were introduced to the beginning of the Universe through the story of the Big Bang Theory. The children then made their own cosmic address book. The purpose of this activity was to teach our children how a place exists within a larger place. It is an illustration and reinforcement of the concept of a child’s place in the universe and geographic location. We then moved on to learn about our planet Earth, the continents, landmarks, habitats and some interesting facts about our each continent. We also spoke about Earth Day, the aim of it, the consequences of climate change and what the children can do at home to help our planet. The children made a drawing of a person hugging our planet Earth through an instructional drawing activity. The students also did a tree hunt by identifying leaves. Next we discussed the importance of birds on our planet. This week we made bird feeders. The students loved making those and took them home to hang in their garden or balcony! They love learning about our world!
