Primary Newsletter 08/11/2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you had a lovely holiday with your children and were able to do some interesting things.
Just before half term we celebrated Halloween. On Tuesday we had a house Halloween competition where selected students had to wrap a teacher as an Egyptian mummy. The primary staff enjoy dressing up just as much as the children and so on Friday we dressed up as Cruella Deville and 101 Dalmations. The students had a lot of fun dressing up too. Some of them were very creative with their ideas. I am sure you saw some of the posts on social media but there will be a few more included in the newsletter today.
Class 2 also led the assembly on their unit ‘Young Entrepreneurs’. They had the stunning idea of setting up a Halloween stall for the end of the assembly where everyone got to taste ghostly lemonade and monster cookies. They told us all about setting up a new business, being an innovator, importing and exporting products and discussed packaging design. They were very impressive in their knowledge of starting up a new business. They also entertained us with a very enjoyable Halloween song and we all got to join in with it. After the presentation and costume parade the students all got to try out the lemonade and cookies and were served by class 2 as well.
Today we held a whole school assembly to remember Armistice day. We have had Poppy items on sale for a few days and the students wore their poppies with pride. We thought about the dreadful time of war in the past and today and expressed gratitude for the sacrifice of the soldiers and men women and children who lost their lives so that we can have the free world of today. Primary Student Voice read the poem Flanders Fields very well.
We also recognised the achievements of our school girls football team at the competition in Marbella where they won the cup and our cross country medal winners.
Next week we have a public holiday on the 11th November. It is also our annual anti-bullying week and on Friday the 15th November we will have odd shoe day where we ask students and staff to wear odd shoes. We are all unique and this reminds us that everyone is different but we can all get along and it is OK to stand out. We need to respect and value each other’s differences.
On Wednesday classes 1 to 5 will be taking part in a Virtual international assembly about kindness.
Friday 22nd November is Fluffy Friday when students can come to school in their fluffy onesies, dressing gowns, (h)oodies and bring a cuddly toy to school.
Saturday 30th November, from 3.00 to 6.00pm is the amazing Festival of Lights, when we will welcome all of our students, parents and visitors to celebrate several winter events in one go. We expect to see you all there but make sure you have your warm clothes on!
I wish you a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.
