Primary Newsletter- 10/10/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

The autumn weather is beginning to come in and the trees are turning to gorgeous hues of red, brown and gold. It really is a stunning time of year. I am pleased to see our students have warm coats in school. It won’t be long before we need hats, scarves and gloves too.

Many of the classes are using Autumn as a theme for class poetry, art and I even saw some maths work using fallen leaves too. We do try to make learning as relevant to our students’ young lives as possible. Early years in particular are enjoying the learning opportunities presented in the Autumn theme.

In last week’s assembly, Class 2 gave a fantastic presentation using their literacy skills. They were able to give a choral recitation of a story including the punctuation and shared some of the poetry they had written using a range of adjectives. They were very impressive.

Class 5 presented today’s assembly sharing some of the work they have done on Weather and Climate. They explained the watercycle to us all very well, with interesting props and loud, clear explanations. They used the correct terminology for all the stages of the water cycle and then shared their predictions, observations and conclusions for the experiments they carried out. We certainly have some budding scientists in this class.

Our Primary Student Voice group is up and running again. All of the students are very enthusiastic. They have planned a whole year’s events and you can find out a bit more about the first two in their newsletter this week.

Languages are an important part of learning and training the brain. Our students start formal Dutch from Class 1 and French is introduced from Class 4. Madame Nichols, our Primary French teacher, has shared some information this week.

We are beginning to plan for Literacy week straight after the half term break and the Festival of Lights at the end of November. So many exciting activities for our students to participate in.

I wish you a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.

Warm regards,

Sharon Short
