SECONDARY
MIDDLE SCHOOL – CLASS 6-8
The Middle Years Programme is the foundation stage for learning in the Secondary school and marks an important transition from Primary School. Students in their adolescent years have particular learning needs during this stage and we advocate for a holistic approach to meet these needs.
We focus on the following areas:
This approach builds on fundamental knowledge and highlights the process learning through investigation where curiosity and problem solving are encouraged. Students explore concepts and apply their knowledge in a variety of contexts.
The development of skills which are transferrable allows students to apply their knowledge and understanding across a range of contexts e.g. independent learning; collaboration; organisation and time management; communication and presentation; and critical thinking.
We access the Cambridge Curriculum Programme for Mathematics, English and Science which is a quality and recognised framework that prepares students for Checkpoint exams and links to our IGCSE curriculum in class 9 and 10.
Our programme is broad so that students are exposed to a range of subjects in which they can identify their passions and interests.

Students in this age group need to access programmes and support services that build their social-emotional intelligence. This is provided through curricular activities, our PSE programme, the House system, class tutors and the student services team.
To ensure that learning experiences are deep and authentic, students have the opportunity to participate in a number of educational day excursions that enrich their learning through real-life connections. Overnight trips that may promote community service, teamwork, leadership or outdoor education are also offered.
IGCSE – CLASS 9 AND 10
During the first two years of Senior School (Classes 9 and 10), our students follow the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, IGCSE, from Cambridge International.
The students are all required to take a number of core subjects and then choose between others. Through this combination of core (compulsory) subjects and options, the students are able to simultaneously demonstrate their abilities for future studies and develop their interests.
