The Primary Section Stories – 10/01/2025

Primary Newsletter 10/01/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year, we hope you had a great holiday. It was really good to see the students again. They were very excited about the snow and we have all had a very good week.

We have welcomed a new trainee teacher into the school this week. Ms Thanya will be working in class 3 finding out about how we do things in our school. She has already settled in very well.

On Tuesday Ms Wynne Buckner our new class 2 teacher came in to visit and to meet with the class. She was very impressed and can’t wait to get cracking with them. Read her introduction in our newsletter and find out about her HERE.

On Wednesday classes 2 to 5 took part in an online kindness workshop which was filled with activities and cooperation, reinforcing with us all that being kind is the way to go.

Also on Wednesday we had a visit from Thomas Moore University students and their lecturers. The students are doing a masters in international Education and they like to come and look round our school to find out how things are done. They presented us with a Flemish book for our library. One or two of the students may choose to do their internship with us.

On Thursday as part of our primary meeting we had a team building event and the teachers created stepping stones for our developing garden area. It was a fantastic opportunity to get creative and learn some construction skills!

On Friday our assembly was about setting new goals for the new calendar year, but we revisited kindness and hope we will all be kinder over the coming year.

Next week is our STEAM week when we will be focussing on Science, (Design and) Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. The teachers have lots of exciting activities planned and we will round off the week by touring the school to look at each other’s work.

The 20th will be the school photographs. Please make sure the children are looking smart and tidy for this.

Ms Laura, our EYR teacher, will soon be going on maternity leave. We wish her all the very best and look forward to seeing her new arrival in the not too distant future. We will miss her but Ms Lili will be taking the class so they will be in very good hands.

Ms Georgiana has announced that she is also expecting so we give her our best congratulations. More exciting news for the school. Read more about Class 5 HERE.

I wish you a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.

Sharon Short

Safeguarding Lead.
