The final week of this half term has been a little bit trying for our students with all this lovely snow outside and no opportunity to get in it. Unfortunately, the snow had packed into sheets of ice when we arrived on Monday and didn’t really thaw. It was simply too dangerous for the children to go out unless they were in very small groups. We tried to get some classes out for about 15 mins but they were slipping and sliding all over the place so we had to stop it. I hope that the children were able to spend some time in the snow at home. It is a wonderful experience even if only for a few minutes. We have some snapshots of the brief moments some of the children were out there.
Classes 3,4 and 5 completed their ISA tests in the first week of February. They were a new experience for our students and for some it required intense concentration and was emotionally taxing. They did like using their Chromebooks for the assessment though. We look forward to receiving the results in April time and seeing the information and feedback they will give to the school.
Everywhere I have glanced over the last couple of weeks there have been Rubiks cubes, pyramids or other more exotic 3D shapes as the children practised for the school competition. All of the children who entered improved their dexterity and speed skills. They were amazing. It was quite the craze. I am pleased to announce the winners of the competition were:
- Vihaan Class 6
- Siddhanth Class 5
- Vrushab Class 6
- Avaan Class 2
Well done to all the competitors for taking part and thank you to Ms Grace for organizing the event.
I hope everyone saw the latest poetry event letter that came out this week. This is not just for our school but for many of the private schools in Belgium and is a chance for our children to showcase their talents to a wide audience. Please check your emails for the information and get your entries into the class teachers as soon as possible.
Please can I remind parents that children are not allowed to wear shoes/boots with laces unless they can do them up themselves. We cannot waste our teachers valuable time doing up 15-20 pairs of laces, especially in early Years. After half term we will be sending a note home asking for different footwear if this happens.
Thank you to all those parents who were able to tune into the primary coffee morning. We did have a few technical difficulties again and a power cut, but most of you bravely hung on in there and were able to see the full range of performances. We really appreciated your positive comments in the chat. The class teachers have shared the class videos in Google Classroom if you missed it and would like to see your child perform.
Today we dressed up in our finest Carnival costumes and were able to enjoy some festivities in the classrooms. We couldn’t parade around the school as we would usually do but each class had a parade in their room and undertook some fun craft activities and party games. It was a lovely note to end the half term on.
We wish you all a happy and safe half-term holiday and look forward to seeing the students again very soon.
Warm wishes,
