The Primary Section Stories 13/10/2023

The Primary Section Stories 13/10/2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday we had the wonderful news that Ms Sylvia and her husband Mr Gabor have had a new baby girl. This will bring their family to four. We wish them all the very best and look forward to welcoming them back to work in due course. Mother and baby are both doing well.

All of the staff had a lovely time on Teacher’s day October 5th. The school provided a splendid lunch, the student council arranged for some lovely surprises and served the lunch to staff. Thank you to all the children who brought in cards and gifts for their teachers.

Last week’s assembly was presented by class 3. It was very impressive because they organised it all themselves (With a little support from Ms Jenny and Ms Victoria!). They have been studying light as part of their IPC unit and so they chose to explain to us all about shadow. It was very interesting and then they did an entertaining shadow puppet play for us.  They finished off with a song and had actions that we could all join in with.

On Wednesday we celebrated House Pride Day. We try to have one of these each term. The students dressed up in their house colours and some made special costumes, flags and posters. All of the houses looked fantastic. We then had a bit of a dance off and each house shouted their new house chant. The atmosphere was very exciting and vibrant. It was a lovely way to acknowledge the houses and a chance for the new house captains to show their leadership skills.

Today Class 5 and Ms G stepped in when my other assembly arrangements fell through. They have been working on Traditional Tales in class and Ms G had asked them to wear their traditional clothes to help with inspiration and atmosphere. They very kindly shared their ideas so far and showed us their costumes. Some countries no longer have traditional dress except maybe their country’s football strip so we really appreciate the effort of those families that do support their children in dressing up. They looked fantastic.

We will be offering a parent workshop to the whole of Primary Parents from EY to class 5 on the 18th October at 17.30. It will be on feedback and marking to give parents some insight into why and how we give feedback and mark children’s work. It will last about 25 minutes. The Zoom link is here;
