The Primary Section Stories – 17/06

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are heading for our last few days of school and we have many events and activities planned including our award ceremonies and sports events.

The school play at Aartselaar Community Centre on Friday was fantastic. Our students performed really well in ‘A Nasty Case of Nastiness’, there was a great atmosphere and we enjoyed the opportunity to meet with other members of our community. It included song and dance as well as the main performance and of course the traditional corny jokes. If you didn’t go, you missed a good one.

Class 3 shared some of the Poems of John Lyons in assembly last week. They were able to read them chorally and with great expression and effect. Some of them were very humorous and all of the children in the assembly enjoyed them.

We have had two class trips recently. EYF went to the space exhibition with Mrs Harwood. The guide was astounded by how much the whole class knew, she really couldn’t get over that these young children knew about the solar system, stars, constellations and about space missions. Class 5 went to Technopolis and gained some real insight into various aspects of the science they have learnt this year, especially those linked to their IPC ‘Investigators’ unit.

Our Parent transition workshop for class 5 parents took place this week. Thank you to the parents who attended.

Ms Anna is our intern from Greece. She has been working at the school all year in class 2. She has demonstrated many great qualities and become a real asset to the school. We will all miss her when her year of working with us is finished at the end of this term. We would like to express our thanks for all that she has done.

The EY to class 2 sports day is Tuesday 21st June and the Class 3 to 11 sports day is the 23rd June, both at the Aartselaar Sports centre.  We begin our award ceremonies next week. These will be live streamed and we will send the links to the respective classes before they take place. EYF will be having a Moving On museum in class to celebrate moving up to Class 1 and Class 5 will be having a Moving On celebration and award ceremony to mark moving up to secondary school.

We hope you enjoy the good weather.

Best wishes,

Sharon Short
