The Primary Section Stories – 28/06/2024

Primary Newsletter 28/06/2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Wow what a busy time we have had! There have been so many wonderful activities in school and great learning experiences for our students. First of all though I would like to make some announcements.

After many years with our school Ms Amelia Sericova our student support teacher is returning to the USA. Ms Amelia has been a champion for our students who have needed additional help for many years. Striving to give them the best learning opportunities and care, as well as someone to talk to when they have struggled with challenges. We thank her for all she has done and wish her and Felix her son, who is going with her, all the very best and hope they will keep in contact.

Thank you Ms Vijaya who has been helping us in various roles across the school, including supporting Primary with the library. She has been very flexible and turned her hand to whatever has been needed. We have really appreciated her support.

There will also be some changes. Ms Mac who has a masters in Special Educational Needs and a great love of books will be taking over the Primary Student Support role and running the Library. She will be doing two of her favourite things so we feel certain she is going to enjoy her new roles and wish her all the best.

Our new Class 4 teacher will be Ms Louise Farrow, who trained in the UK but who has lived in Asia and Europe over the last few years. We look forward to welcoming her into the school community.

I am sure you will hear more about her in the coming months.

We will also be saying goodbye to some of our students who are moving to new countries. We know they have had a fantastic time here at ISBe. They have made good friends and learnt a lot. We wish them all the best in their new schools and hope to see them in the future if they return to Belgium.

This week we had the Primary water party. This event has been on hold because of the terrible weather but this time the sun broke through and the students were able to have a lot of fun squirting each other with water pistols and dousing their teachers.

The class 3 and 4 trip to Sporta was a great success. The students had an amazing time and enjoyed all of the activities. We think we would like to go there again next year.

Last Friday evening it was a great pleasure to go and see the School Show. This year the LAMDA students themselves took two well known fairy tales, Snow White and Cinderella and transformed them into riveting and comical performances for our delight. These were interspersed with musical items from the Primary school choir, the Martian Cats who were some of the winners of our talent contest and rounded off by an exuberant rendition of Daft Punks ‘Get Lucky’ which included students, parents and staff.

This week we had the class award ceremonies and moving up ceremonies. The Early Years Foundation class celebrated their time in Early Years and received a certificate and a small gift. They all seem very excited to go on to Class 1 but will miss Mrs Harwood. Classes 1- 4 did a great job of receiving their awards and certificates and celebrating each other’s successes. It was a pleasure to recognise so much hard work and enthusiasm for learning. Class 5 shared their aspirations for the future and their reflections about the year and received their certificates and awards. They have been a great role model to the other classes and we wish them all the best in secondary. All of our students deserve recognition for their hard work and success. Well done.

Reports were sent out yesterday at 2pm via Engage. Please check that you have read your childs.

Thank you to all our parents for your positive comments and support over the last year. We wish you all a wonderful holiday period full of relaxation and rest and look forward to seeing you all again in August.

Please make a note in your calendar.

Parent orientation day is Tuesday 27th August and the students start back on the 28th August.

Very best wishes,
