The Secondary Section Stories – 29/04

It is great to be back for our final term of this academic year. There are a lot of events happening  and students are excited about what they will be involved in this term.

Since arriving back from April holidays, there has already been a lot of action. Unicorn house organised a fun event of “water pong” that had the crowd cheering loudly and saw Phoenix house as the victors. We also wish our class 10 IGCSE students the best of luck as their final exams began this week.

In secondary, we have a teacher who is a English/ EAL specialist doing her internships with us for her post graduate program in International education. She has been working with many of our EAL students, providing extra support. We also had from student and teacher visitors from St Norbertus Institute who were looking at International education in practice and drawing contrasts and comparisons with their system of learning. It is great to see our school being a showcase for best practice in International education.

Class 11 students have designed and delivered their first CAS project as part of their IB Diploma Programme. This week they ran an inter-house quiz competition for all students in secondary. Students had a lot of fun and proved that they have good general knowledge, even when it comes to weird facts and trivia. The top two teams in each house were selected to be in a final round, including a teacher’s team from each house and even an administration team.  The winning team were:

Winning Teacher Team: Phoenix — Mr Matt, Ms Katie, Ms Kimman and with the help from Joshua Smilkstein

Winning Student Team: Unicorn — Jasmine, Michael, Prisha, Ksenija , Sarah (Class 9).

The weeks ahead will certainly provide students with some quality learning opportunities and experiences, while also adding a sprinkle of fun and challenge.
