The Secondary Section Stories – 04/06

As it fast approaches the end of the school year (only about 4 weeks away), school has become a very busy place.

Our middle school students have all been on excursion – Class 6 to Gravenstein in Ghent and  class 7 & 8 to the Plantin Moretus Museum and Waterloo respectively, to connect their learning in the classroom with relevant historical sources. Class 9 and 10 will do their Duke of Edinburgh hike next week.

As class 10 finishes their assessments for IGCSE, students in other grades are getting ready to start their final assessments. Class 6-8 will sit Block exams on Wednesday 16- Friday 18 June and will receive the schedule for these today.

The transition program for class 5 continues and I have been doing individual interviews with each student to find out more information about them as a person and as a learner. This information will be shared with their teachers for next year in combination with feedback from their current class 5 teacher.

We are currently planning some exciting events to end the year as part of an alternative program. This will include a Sports day, musical performances, French plays, an Awards ceremony, a theme park excursion, Drama skits and much more. We really want to end on a positive note after working through all the covid challenges this year.

A few important upcoming dates:

June 10 – C5 parent workshop 3 – logistics

June 10-12 – C9&10 – Duke of Edinburgh hike

June 16-18 – Middle School exam block

June 21 – Alternative Program starts

June 28 – Sports Day

Keep safe and healthy!
