The Secondary Section Stories – 12/03

Welcome to March – the year is really flying by.

In the senior school, students have had the opportunity to attend a virtual university fair and we also hosted the first of a series of three career panels for both parents and students. This panel focused on people who had taken unusual pathways to get to their current jobs and how there are so many options to explore.

We also arranged a virtual open day for families not yet in our school community, to showcase the wonderful learning programs available at our school. Some of our senior students put together a fabulous virtual tour as part of the presentation.

Our class 5 transition program has begun with a student information session and a parent workshop. Middle schoolers are immersed in a number of interactive activities in class and preparations for the interhouse speech competition are underway. Subject selections for both IGCSE and the IBDP have also been completed as we plan for the next academic year.

Given the ongoing implications of the covid pandemic and it’s potential impact on social and emotional development, staff at ISBe have taken on training with a Positive Health and Wellbeing program to develop their skills and then support students to also manage their own wellbeing

With only three weeks now until the end of term 2, students are finishing off units of work and assessments, and in case of class 10, preparing for their external IGCSE exams. There are also a few events coming up:

March 15-19 – Literacy week – lots of activities and a dress up day

March 19 – Inter-house speech competition entries due

April 1 – Reports go home

April 2 – Parent / Teacher conferences

Keep safe and healthy!!!
