The Secondary Section Stories – 14/03/2025
To our valued parents and ISBe community members,
We hoped you had a relaxing midterm break and were ready for an exciting week as we celebrated Literacy Week at ISbe. The week was filled with engaging activities designed to spark creativity, celebrate language, and inspire our students.
Throughout the week, our secondary teachers shared quotes from books in various languages, encouraging students to appreciate the power of literature in its many forms. This activity highlighted the diversity of literary traditions and the universal impact of storytelling. Students also participated in a collaborative writing project over two days, working together to craft stories, poems, and essays, fostering teamwork and creativity. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life through this shared effort.
One of the key highlights of the week was an insightful career talk from Stavan Shah, an alumnus of ISbe, who shared his journey studying at Warwick and Oxford University and his career in entrepreneurship. His story offered invaluable guidance to students as they explored their own potential career paths.
The week concluded with a poetry-writing activity, where students created poems based on a theme of their choice, encouraging them to express themselves creatively in any language. The diversity of themes and approaches was impressive, and it was exciting to witness their poetic expressions.
A standout event during the week was the speech competition, which truly displayed the incredible talent and confidence of our students. With 31 participants, the competition was intense, and all the students showcased exceptional public speaking skills and creativity. After much anticipation, the competition was narrowed down to 9 finalists, each of whom delivered powerful speeches that captivated both the judges and their peers.
We were proud to announce the winners of the competition: Aadya, Kadi, and an honourable mention to Tulip. Aadya and Kadi stood out with their impressive delivery and thought-provoking content, earning them well-deserved recognition. Tulip’s performance also earned her an honourable mention, as she demonstrated maturity and clarity well beyond her years.
Literacy Week was a remarkable celebration of language, creativity, and career exploration. We were incredibly proud of all the students who participated in the events, and we look forward to seeing even more of our students shine in future activities. Congratulations to all the participants and winners, and thank you to everyone who made this week such a success!
Warm regards,
