The Secondary Section Stories – 20/11

Since returning from our mid-term 1 break, it has been all systems go.

Although students didn’t get to participate in our Armistice Day ceremony because we were doing virtual learning, once we came back on site students from class 4-7 gave a lovely outdoor performance of the song “In the silence” that they had rehearsed. I also know many of our families have been celebrating Diwali and I hope it was a special time with family and friends.

We have had the opportunity to talk academic pathways with both students and parents in C8 and C10 about our senior programs of IGCSE and IBDP as students are starting to prepare for their end of year transition. There will be multiple opportunities for follow up and individual meetings over the coming months.

Last Wednesday, there was a parent workshop about Safeguarding and Child Protection for parents and this Wednesday 25 November we are offering a second ‘parents only’ workshop on the ISA program of external assessment that students from C3- C9 will do this school year. The workshop will be online starting at 6pm – 7pm and you will receive a zoom link to log in. Please take advantage of these workshops as they are specifically designed for parents.

Today, our school leaders: Student Councilors and House Captains took part in a two leadership training sessions where they focused on building skills of communication and active listening. These skills will help them in the leadership roles, especially running meetings with student groups.

We are looking forward to a busy last 3 weeks before winter break with house events, C6-C8 doing block assessment (a schedule will be shared with students today) and parent teacher conferences.

Enjoy the changing cooler weather,
