The Secondary Section Stories – 22/10

In secondary, we continue to meet prospective new families coming from different locations and backgrounds (Mexico, Israel, South Africa etc) wanting to join our school community.  This serves to build opportunities and enrich cultural interactions for students.

Well done to our football teams, both mixed and boys team who played a victorious game against BJAB at home. It was not only good to come away with a win but great to see so many supporters at the match – parents, siblings and teachers.

Last week we held a coffee meeting where students across class levels and subjects were able to share their learning with parents – Musical compositions, Housing models, Cooking in French, Quality slideshow presentations, Shading for depth in Art, Global Perspective investigations for human rights, and What is CAS? We will hold other events like this online throughout year and hope to host parents on campus as well.

Class 8 ran the secondary assembly this week, also highlighting what they have been learning in various subjects. C9 will be in charge next week. Our older students in class 9-11 were building their skills this week as part of the Duke of Edinburgh program. Despite the inclement weather, they practiced putting up their tents and camp cooking – in fact the weather gave them a more authentic experience……

Both students and parents had access this week to some information sessions about the IB Diploma as we start the process of planning for classes and subject selection for the next academic year. Similar information sessions about the IGCSE program for next year will happen in November after the break.

Our football teams are heading to Spain next week on Thursday for the Schools World Cup tournament and we wish them well. Halloween celebrations are also in full swing next week – dress up and snacks – on Friday 29 October.

Here are some other important upcoming events to remember:

October:

Thursday 28 – School football teams leave for tournament in Marbella, Spain

Friday 29 – Halloween celebrations & half term break starts

November:
