We are blooming!

As a new term has just started, Ey Reception students are very excited and ready to embark upon new, real-world and hands-on experiences. Following our International Early Years Curriculum, we have started our new unit: “The world around us”.

The focus of this unit is exploring and caring for the environment. The activities encourage children to take an active interest in the world around them, including its natural and man- made features. This, our world, is a small world after all. That is why we are going to go above and beyond this theme, relating it to our daily life and starting to appreciate the ways in which we can positively impact the environment.

Our Entry point this week was a sensorial activity: a rope trail. This helped us to focus on our senses, and to clarify, classify, and understand the nature around us. Students were given a choice as to whether they wanted to close their eyes or keep them open, to work individually or in pairs. They found different nature-related obstacles (such as flowers, leaves, water, sand, etc.) along the way and were captivated by discovering all these in a different way.

Sometimes, it’s the simplest activities that provide the spark that our students need!
