Welcome to The Early Years Foundation

The children are setting into their new classroom and we are all getting to know each other.

As the weather is still fine we decided to take them on their first nature walk of the year. Whilst on the walk we gave them a task.

Find something beautiful and frame it.

Armed with a cardboard picture frame each, the children slowly made their way down our leafy lane next to the school,on a hunt for something worthy enough to pop a frame over.

The aim was to slow them down and to really focus on their surroundings and the details. They studied, close up, the many things they saw and took their time discovering the different textures and colours in nature. We had framed leaves, feathers, bark, pinecones etc. All done with great enthusiasm.

All it took was a frame…to capture their imagination.
