Secondary Newsletter 03/04/2026
To our valued parents and ISBe community members,
As we begin the spring season, I am delighted to share a selection of recent highlights from across our Secondary School, as well as some important updates and celebrations.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of delivering an IB workshop on inquiry-based learning in Vienna. It was a highly rewarding experience and a valuable opportunity to collaborate and share best practice with colleagues from other international schools.

We are also pleased to celebrate our recent Public Speaking Competition. In the Senior category, Lien Al Husseini was awarded first place, with Aahil Shaik as runner-up. In the Middle School category, Riona Ramakrishanan was the winner, with Agrima Shah as runner-up. Congratulations to all participants for their confidence and eloquence. Thank you to Mrs Smilkstein for making this competition possible.
Our recent Talent Show was another highlight, and I was particularly impressed by the commitment, enthusiasm, and level of talent demonstrated by our students this year. It was a wonderful showcase of creativity and confidence across the school. Special thanks to Ms Nicholas for organizing it.
Students have also benefited from a range of enriching educational visits. Class 11 enjoyed a French trip to the Red Star Museum in Brussels, while Class 6 visited the Gallo-Roman Museum, both providing valuable cultural and historical learning experiences.

The Student Council has organised a lovely goodbye pizza party for Classes 10 and 12, as they prepare to begin their official IGCSE and IB examinations after the holiday. Some students have already completed their IGCSE examinations, and we wish all of them the very best of success in the weeks ahead. Yesterday also marked the final day of school for our Class 12 students, and we wish them every success as they move into this important examination period.
We were also very pleased with the success of our student-led conferences. These are a valuable opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and share their progress with parents, and it was excellent to see such strong engagement.
Finally, I would like to wish all families a very enjoyable Easter and spring holiday. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed for the start of Term 3.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Tala Issa
