To our valued parents and ISBe community members,
As we begin the spring season, I am delighted to share a selection of recent highlights from across our Secondary School, as well as some important upcoming events.
In the past few days, I had the pleasure of being part of an evaluation team for Knightsbridge International School in Montenegro. It was a very positive and rewarding experience, and an excellent opportunity to engage with colleagues in another international school setting.
We were especially proud of our Class 7 students who, alongside Ms Daniela and Ms Smilkstein, delivered a thoughtful and impactful presentation on the Holocaust. The students approached this significant topic with commendable maturity, sensitivity, and insight, making it a truly valuable learning experience.
Last week, we also held a dynamic and engaging STEAM Week, bringing together Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics across the school. Students in Classes 6 and 7 took part in a Poster Competition, where they worked in small groups to design and present innovative 3D projects that blended artistic creativity with scientific thinking. At the same time, Classes 8 and 9 participated in a Treasure Hunt challenge, promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and enthusiasm, with house points awarded to the winning teams. Class 8 students along with Mr Lauren, led science experiments for our Primary students. This was an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate leadership and communication skills. Class 9 Biology students also took part in a structured vaccination debate, showing strong critical thinking, balanced discussion, and confidence in expressing their views. Our Class 11 students have been engaged in their Group 4 Project, an interdisciplinary initiative across Biology and Physics. This project involves research, presentations, and reflection, supported by dedicated off-timetable sessions, and we look forward to seeing the final outcomes.
Coding was integrated into ICT lessons, while Mathematics lessons featured a range of engaging and interactive games. I would like to extend my thanks to all colleagues in Science, Technology, Art, and Mathematics for their contributions to a highly successful week.
In sport, we are pleased to celebrate a number of excellent results. Both our boys’ and girls’ football teams achieved victories against Amity, and our girls’ team also secured a strong win against Montgomery. Additionally, our boys’ and girls’ teams are currently competing in Slovakia, representing the school with pride. My sincere thanks go to Mr Ruben and Mr Gabor for their continued dedication and support.
We would also like to congratulate our students on completing their LAMDA examinations and thank Mr Johnathon for his excellent organisation of these.
Looking ahead, our student-led conferences will take place on 3rd April. We expect all students and parents to attend on site at their allocated times. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their learning and share their progress with you.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Tala Issa
